What is Forest School?
"Forest School" is based on a Scandinavian idea that places a great importance on a child's regular contact with the natural world. A study trip from Somerset to Denmark in 1995 brought the approach back to England and since then the popularity of the approach has grown.
The introduction of Forest School encourages the children to think innovatively. They become more environmentally conscious and develop an inquisitive attitude towards the natural world.
Learning within a Forest School setting is hands-on and has been proven to develop children's problem solving skills, resilience and self-esteem.
Miss Gilliland and Mrs Chapman are currently developing the Forest School provision in school in order to provide further enriching experiences for our children.
